RESTON, Va.-Nextel Communications Inc. selected Wireless Services Corp. to serve as its network interoperability provider, enabling Nextel customers to send and receive text messages to and from subscribers of other U.S. wireless carriers.
WSC said its service allows message confirmation, 500-character length messages, real-time delivery status, spam control and user defined replies. Nextel selected WSC in 2000 to provide its original two-way text messaging service.
