Symbol reports declining revenue

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y.-Mobile computing company Symbol Technologies Inc. reported declining revenues and net losses for its second quarter compared with the same quarter last year, but company executives offered a positive outlook.

“We believe the business strengthening we started to see in the second quarter will give us momentum into the second half of 2002 and beyond,” said Richard Bravman, the company’s president and chief operating officer.

Symbol reported revenues of $316 million for the quarter, ended June 30, compared with $340 million in the same quarter last year. The company’s net loss was $22.7 million, compared with $59.6 million last year.
