DALLAS-Nortel Networks Corp. shipped its first commercial EDGE radio and base-station equipment to Cingular Wireless L.L.C., which plans to deploy the solution in several of its GSM/GPRS markets including North Carolina, South Carolina, coastal Georgia, eastern Tennessee and Puerto Rico.
Cingular announced in October plans to deploy EDGE technology on its network as its third-generation technology choice.
