SAN DIEGO-Leap Wireless International Inc. reported ending the second quarter with approximately 1.452 million subscribers to its Cricket service, below company guidance of 1.5 million customers.
The carrier blamed aggressive dealer incentives and handset promotions from traditional carriers for the customer addition shortfall. Leap also noted its recently introduced initiatives to handle customer fraud will have a negative impact on calculated revenue per user, customer acquisition cost and customer churn for the quarter.
