MANILA, Philippines—Wireless carrier Smart Communications Inc. said it will support its GSM network by deploying Nortel Networks’ OPTera Metro 5200 multiservice platform, an optical metro backbone network based on dense wavelength division multiplexing technology.
Nortel said the deployment will “enhance the performance and reliability of its information technology infrastructure, and to address the needs of its ever-expanding GSM prepaid subscriber base, with high-bandwidth Storage Area Network data backup.”
