SAN DIEGO—Qualcomm Inc. said it has placed what it described as the world’s first live wideband CDMA and GSM calls using its complete radioOne direct conversion radio-frequency dual-mode solution.
“These calls represent the world’s first multimode, multi-band wireless phone calls made on a handset with a single-integrated dual-mode, direct-conversion chipset, a milestone that will help the industry bring small form factor multimode devices to market more quickly, with reduced bill of materials and lower total cost,” said Don Schrock, president of Qualcomm CDMA technologies.
