ATLANTA—Numerex Corp. said its negotiations with BT Group plc to acquire the company’s RedCARE business have reached an impasse because of commercial and regulatory issues. Numerex said it is still interested in the deal if the issues can be resolved, and in the meantime the two companies said they will pursue a strategic alliance involving the marketing and cross-selling of their respective products and services.
“Our relationship with BT remains positive and constructive as we jointly pursue a strategic alliance through joint sales and marketing opportunities,” said Stratton Nicolaides, Numerex’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Struggling BT has been working to sell of some of its assets.
