BEIJING—The Hong Kong-listed arm of China Unicom posted first-quarter revenue of 8.35 billion yuan (US$1 billion), while China Mobile reported 23.35 billion yuan (US$2.82 billion).
Revenue from China Unicom’s mobile business was 6.65 billion yuan (US$804 million) for the first three months of the year, versus 1.7 billion yuan (US$206 million) for its fixed-line and paging services. Monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) on its CDMA network was 81.80 yuan (US$9.89), 10.8 percent higher than the 73.80 yuan (US$8.93) ARPU for the company’s GSM network, which is falling faster than that of rival China Mobile.
