MELBOURNE, Australia—Former directors of failed mobile-phone operator One.Tel this week launched a new telecommunications reseller with a strikingly similar company name, TeleOne. The announcement was met with disbelief and skepticism, particularly given that Mark Silbermann, One.Tel’s former finance director, gave evidence in an ongoing liquidation hearing in the Federal Court just last week.
His business partner in the new venture is Kevin Beck, One.Tel’s former operation director. This time, though, the new company will concentrate its business on reselling fixed-line calls to international, national and mobile destinations rather than operate as a mobile carrier.
In Sydney, meanwhile, the hearing into the One.Tel collapse continues, with Jodee Rich, former joint managing director, giving evidence.
