Sigfox has picked up another contract for tracking roll cages in the postal services sector, after Sigfox operator Heliot Europe signing with Post of Slovenia (Pošta Slovenije), the state-owned mail delivery company in Slovenia. The deal was announced at the recent 0GUN (0G United Nations) summit of Sigfox operators in Labege, in the Occitania region in Southwestern France. The summit drew operators from 70 countries, where Sigfox networks exist.
The new project, in initial trial mode, follows the pattern of Sigfox’s existing arrangements with German courier company Deutsche Post DHL, most significantly, plus Austrian postal services company Austrian Post and Irish outfit An Post Mails & Parcels (An Post). Heliot Europe will supply battery-powered Sigfox trackers for postal roll/roller cages, which carry parcels through logistics centres and fleet services.
The Unabiz team, now in charge of the Sigfox technology, paid tribute to the technical team at Heliot Europe in Munich and the Sigfox network optimization team in Prague, plus Germany-based asset tracking hardware provider BOX ID Systems.
Tomáš Pavlíček, chief operating officer at Heliot Europe, said: “The signing of this contract, and also negotiations with other European postal operators, show our solutions have the potential to be the industry standard for the monitoring of non-powered trolleys in the postal industry. Our goal is to connect millions of returnable and reusable packaging units in coming years in all industry sectors with our technology-agnostic embedded solutions.”
Henri Bong, chief executive at Unabiz, said: “UnaBiz is pleased to witness yet another success story of Heliot Group’s highly scalable asset management solution. The project is a testament to our customer’s trust in the 0G network and we look forward to supporting Heliot Group and its Post of Slovenia in this nationwide deployment.”
