OWINGS MILLS, Md.—In its fourth quarter results Aether Systems Inc. reported a huge increase in revenues compared with a year ago, but also a widening loss.
Last year Aether earned $112.9 million, a leap from the $58.2 million the company reported in 2000. For the fourth quarter, ended Dec. 31, Aether earned $25.2 million compared with $25.8 million in the same quarter a year ago. Aether’s loss for the quarter was $42.1 million compared with the $35.2 million in the same quarter last year.
Aether’s chief executive expressed confidence in the company’s ability to withstand the slow economy, and pointed to the successes of the company’s Mobile Government and Transportation and Logistics divisions.
