INDIANAPOLIS—Brightpoint Inc. said it showed a net loss of 83 cents per share on revenues of $409 million for the fourth quarter of 2001, compared with a year-ago net income of 31 cents per share on revenues of $520 million. The company added that recurring operations generated a net income of 1 cent per share on a revenues of $395 million, which is also down from the year-ago income of 19 cents per share on revenues of $480 million.
Brightpoint also said in its report that its financial statements for 1998, 1999, 2000 and the first three quarters of 2001 are being restated to record “certain items that were previously deemed to be immaterial.” The company said it plans to continue to carry out its restructuring plan, which calls for it to exit certain markets and improve its cost structure.
