NEW DELHI, India—The much-awaited 1900 MHz mobile-phone service of the Thai government agency Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT) is slated for launch on 27 March under the brand name “Thai Mobile”.
In the first phase, the service will cover the Bangkok metropolitan area and will be expanded later, TOT officials stated in Bangkok. The launch has been much delayed because of the delays in setting up the network and selecting a marketing partner.
TA Orange, which had originally planned to begin commercial operations on 15 January, is also likely to start commercial services in March. It is currently testing the service among employees of its affiliates, the Charoen Pokphand Group and TelecomAsia.
