Yesterday, COFETEL, Mexico’s telecommunication regulatory agency, announced in a press release their approval of criteria that would make it easier for subscribers to take advantage of their right to number portability. Such modifications include reinforcing that a customer has the right to number portability no matter what service carrier they have contracts with. COFETEL will also require service carriers to provide information to subscribers, on their bills, about their right to number portability if they choose to change carriers.
