Costa Rican telco Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) is seeking a partner to assist with its wireless network operations, with the aim of allowing it to better compete with the soon to be licensed alternative providers. The initiative is part of ICE’s development strategy for the 2010 – 2014 period, Eduardo Doryan, ICE executive president told local newspaper El Financiero. This strategy was adopted by ICE’s board last week and contains a series of internal changes designed to adapt to the new competition environment. The strategy also envisages ICE’s expansion to the Central American telecoms market. ‘One way or the other, ICE will penetrate other markets. It is only natural to do so to enhance its operations on the domestic market through partnerships with operators from other countries’, Doryan added.
