Cyprus telecom company selects messaging system

LONDON—Finnish company Tecnomen was awarded a contract by the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) to supply a new messaging system. The system will be delivered in December and is scheduled for commercial deployment at the beginning of 2002.

The US$900,000 contract includes support for a range of services such as call-back function, combined voice mailboxes for mobile and fixed subscribers, and multimedia service offerings.

Tecnomen said the messaging system will allow CYTA to extend its value-added service offering.

“We are working with Tecnomen to develop new business applications in these areas, and the acquisition of the new platform from Tecnomen will enhance our capabilities to this end,” said Charalambos Pericleous, CYTA network services manager.
