HELSINKI, Finland—Nokia has signed an agreement with Omnitel, a Lithuanian GSM operator, for the supply and installation of additional switching capacity to expand Omnitel’s network capacity and modernize its switching technology.
The expansion, to occur throughout 2002 and 2003, will address current subscriber growth in Lithuania, enhance network quality and enhance Omnitel’s short messaging service center’s capacity.
Nokia also announced it $60 million plans to deliver a network expansion to Thailand’s Advanced Info Service Plc (AIS). Under this agreement, Nokia will supply Nokia Ultrasite Base Stations, Switching Centers and WAP Gateway, as well as AIS radio network planning, construction works, and implementation and network optimization services. These deliveries are scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2002.
