BELLEVUE, Washington, United States—The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC) said TDMA subscribers have increased 53 percent during the past 12 months, reaching 82.1 million subscribers by 1 October, 2001.
“The continued strength of TDMA operators in the Americas provides a strong base of support for new GSM/GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) wireless data deployments,” said Chris Pearson, executive vice president of the UWCC.
