ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Japanese mobile operator KDDI announced the 10 millionth mobile subscriber on its cdmaOne network has registered. The network, Japan’s first CDMA digital cellular network, and the infrastructure were designed, manufactured and installed by Motorola Inc. in 1998.
“We have listened to our customers, and we are very proud to be able to deliver the types of services and products that they desire,” said Tadashi Onodera, president of KDDI Corp. “We will be expanding on those services as we soon launch WAP 2.0 and a great range of JAVA-enabled software applications, location services and movie clip delivery service at speeds of 64 kbps in December. We expect to see strong continued growth of cdmaOne with our new portfolio of cellular handsets.”
