Qualcomm to give $266M to Vesper

LOS ANGELES-Qualcomm Inc. said it has committed $266 million of equity financing in support of Vesper, a Brazilian CDMA wireless carrier.

“With a footprint of more than 120 million pops covering over 70 percent of the country, including the three largest cities, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, Vesper represents an important strategic asset for CDMA development in Brazil, one of the key markets in Latin America,” said Irwin Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of Qualcomm.
