NEW YORK—Sirius Satellite Radio said David Margolese has stepped down as chief executive officer of the company and his duties will be assumed on an interim basis by John J. Scelfo, senior vice president and chief financial officer, and Patrick Donnelly, senior vice president and general counsel.
Margolese said it was time for him to “pass the baton” after years of working to build the company. He will remain chairman of the board.
Sirius has said it expects to launch at the end of the year, but more realistically a service launch is expected to occur at the beginning of next year. Sirius is still testing some of its equipment.
