Motorola wins GSM deal in India

NEW DELHI, India—Motorola said it has won a US$178 million contract to supply GSM mobile equipment to India’s state-owned carrier BSNL for 1.4 million subscribers.

“It’s for turnkey deployment of networks, which we’ll have to set up in the next six to eight months,” said Pramod Saxena, country manager for Motorola’s Indian operations.
