TOKYO—NTT DoCoMo Inc. said it has solved a technical problem disrupting operation of its Digital mova P503I Hyper mobile phone. The technical problems affected voice and e-mail reception of the i-appli compatible i-mode phones in certain areas where the handset was unable to receive paging information sent from the base stations.
DoCoMo said it solved the problem by sending controlling signals from its base stations, which adjusted the timing radio wave transmissions between phones and base stations. Customers with the affected handsets were advised to take their phones to company retail stores for a temporary software upgrade allowing them to use their phones while the base station adjustment work was completed.
