WASHINGTON-Cingular Wireless customers in the Washington, D.C., area were without service early yesterday following a power outage at one of the carrier’s main switching stations in Maryland.
Cingular said the switch went down around 4 a.m. on Thursday, affecting wireline to wireless, wireless to wireline and voice mail communications for customers in the 301 and 202 area codes.
Cingular said service was restored to 90 percent of its customers by 3 p.m. that afternoon.
