GERMANY

German mobile operator E-Plus introduced natural language access to information and services using iVB Network Solutions’ Omvia product line. The E-Plus Voice Assistant service includes live and stored multimedia content, voice management and voice-activated service management activities, including telephone bill status and message access.

SWEDEN

CellPoint Unwire, a division of CellPoint Inc. has been chosen by Sweden’s Electrolux Professional AB FSE division to supply a remote refrigeration monitoring and management system, FreezeWatchT, for incorporation into Electrolux’s industrial, medical and commercial cold storage units. FreezeWatch monitors temperature and sends alarms via the GSM network to control systems. “This is Electrolux’s first step into the cutting-edge world of telematics and M2M (machine-to-machine) communication technology,” said Pelle Lidberg of Electrolux.

SPAIN

Software provider Auvo Technologies Inc. and Vodafone’s AirTel Movil S.A. of Spain announced their plan for a live commercial network trial of multi-modal wireless services. In the trial, the user will have the option to send and receive information using any combination of voice, text or graphics through a single IP connection. Participants will have wireless access applications including Address Book, Virtual Village and Horoscope. The trial is scheduled to run over AirTel’s GPRS network in Madrid from August through September.

CHINA

Alcatel SA of France has won GSM contracts to expand the networks of Gansu Mobile Communication Corp. and Shanxi MCC Ning Xia MCC. Under the deal, the French company will supply and install its Evolium family of products like base transceiver station terminals, base station controllers, mobile switching centers and operations and maintenance centers. The contract value was not disclosed.
