Device news: Nokia unveils netbook pricing, Storm’s price drops and Boost intros slider

Nokia announced pricing for its 3G booklet would run more than $800 if it is sold without carrier subsidies. The world’s largest handset manufacturer showed the netbook at its annual Nokia World event in Stuttgart, Germany.
The netbook runs on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows operating system and is powered by Intel Corp.’s Atom processors. The device will also sport a 10-inch screen and a promised battery life of up to 12 hours. No word on availability or carrier contracts yet.
Meanwhile, Verizon Wireless lowered the price of its touchscreen BlackBerry Storm to just $50 with a two-year contract, fueling speculation the Storm 2 is just around the corner. The Storm launched late last year at a $200 price point, but was not as well received as its rival competitor Apple Inc.’s iPhone. Nevertheless the Storm was the third-most popular smartphone sold in December, according to Avian Research L.L.C.
In other news, Boost Mobile introduced its first slider phone, the Motorola Debuti856. The Debut retails for $170 and features 1.3MP camera with video capture, instant music access and Stereo Bluetooth capabilities, as well as push-to-talk capabilities.
