Crown 1Q numbers up significantly

Crown Castle International Corp. reported revenues for the first quarter ended March 31 of $212.9 million, a significant increase from the $124.2 million reported for first-quarter 2000.

The company recorded a net loss of $68.1 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with a loss of $33.6 million, or 28 cents per share, for the same period last year.

During the quarter, Crown Castle said it built 549 towers and added 1,469 new tenants, representing an annualized collocation rate of 0.45 tenants per tower on the 12,918 sites owned and managed at the beginning of the quarter.

The company projects total revenues for the year to be between $850 million and $900 million.
