WEST CALDWELL, N.J.-Ricoh PC Peripherals Business Unit, a division of Ricoh Corp. that focuses on digital imaging and multimedia products, and Metricom, a wireless data company, announced they will use Metricom’s Ricochet wireless network to enable high-powered wireless imaging directly from Ricoh’s RDC-i700 digital camera and communications tool.
“Because the RDC-i700 is a `Swiss Army Knife’ of imaging tools, it is perfectly suited for our high speed wireless access,” explained John Cornwell, vice president of business development at Metricom. The Ricochet-Ready RDC-i700 allows users to transfer larger digital images quickly and reliably over our next-generation broadband wireless network.”
The combined technologies allow fast, reliable, wireless transfer of large digital image files, which the companies said will benefit business and vertical applications, including insurance, transportation, emergency services, asset management, real estate and construction.
