KT proposed enhancing national security through quantum encryption solutions
Korea’s KT presented the Ukraine government with insights into how the country can improve its telecommunication infrastructure, including ways to manage the networks more efficiently.
The presentation, titled “ICT Partner for Ukraine,” was led by Moon Sung-uk, head of KT’s Global Business, last week during his visit to Kiev and highlighted the importance of implementing a government-only LTE-based public safety network. Doing so, claims KT, will ensure that the network is highly secure and will allow for the the rapid response of Ukraine’s government in emergency situations.
KT also proposed enhancing national security through quantum encryption solutions, as well as the construction of a government-exclusive integrated data center.
Additionally, Sung-uk pushed the value of a military-broadband convergence network (M-BcN) to enable stable communication and 24-hour situation room monitoring, a recommendation inspired by Korea’s own disaster responsive state network, launched in 2018.
KT is one of the 18 state-run and private firms involved with One Team Korea, a delegation led by Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong, that are in talks with Ukraine regarding postwar reconstruction. In addition to the physical destruction of Ukraine’s infrastructure, a security report from Netscout revealed that the geopolitical tensions with Russia are being reflected in cyberattacks in country, suggesting that KT’s focus on helping secure Ukraine’s telecommunication infrastructure has merit.
