CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-Verizon Wireless launched its digital wireless service in Cedar Rapids, which includes coverage to Iowa City, Waterloo/Cedar Falls and Dubuque.
According to the company, features of the new digital service include caller ID, text messaging, superior voice quality, longer battery life and enhanced privacy and security. Current Verizon customers with dual-mode or tri-mode phones will be able to use the digital service immediately, and analog customers will have the option to upgrade to a digital phone.
Verizon invested more than $8 million in its local wireless network to launch the Cedar Rapids service, and a total of $4 billion in expanding its network coast to coast.
