HAYWARD, Calif.-In an effort to raise awareness of the issue of security as a key enabler of mobile and wireless technologies, Certicom has announced the Certicom Trust Partner Program, an open industrywide initiative dedicated to providing leading security solutions for today’s wireless marketplace.
Participants include 724 Solutions, Aether Systems, AvantGo, BEA Systems, Chrysalis-ITS, GoAmerica, iAnywhere Solutions (a subsidiary of Sybase), Motorola Inc., Openwave Systems, Pitney Bowes, Qualcomm Inc. and w-Technologies Inc.
Members of the program will receive various benefits and co-marketing opportunities based on their specialized level of partnership with Certicom. The hope is that the program will allow organizations to leverage the demand for security.

In related news, mobile business management provider XcelleNet announced it joined Certicom’s MobileTrust Certificate Authority and plans to use Certicom’s services to offer digital certificates to customers using its Afaria mobile management program.
XcelleNet said the deal would allow it to offer secure, fast connections for e-business transactions on mobile devices.
“Thanks to our Certicom partnership, we can assure our Afaria customers the most advanced security technology,” commented Joe Owen, XcelleNet’s chief technology officer.
