LONDON-British Airways and IBM Corp. showed the fruits of their two-year, $17.5 million co-development contract with the launch of a variety of IBM Corp.-developed mobile Internet services, including a graphical seat-selection WAP application.
The seat-selection service allows users to choose their seat from a graphical seat map. Other services include flight availability access, which allows users to view up-to-the-minute flight information for all British Airways flights.
“We were able to build and integrate these first WAP applications very quickly and cost-effectively because we had already built an e-commerce platform to support multi-channel development,” said Mike Hulley, IBM’s vice president for global travel. “We look forward to working closely with British Airways over the next two years to help them provide more innovative digital services for their customers.”
