BURLINGTON, Mass.-Lightbridge Inc. released FraudBuster 5.0, the newest version of the company’s post-activation fraud detection system.
FraudBuster 5.0 is able to detect all known types of fraud, including subscription, technical and dealer fraud, by monitoring the call usage patters of customers once they are on the network, Lightbridge said.
“Domestically, wireless carriers will lose nearly $200 million to fraud in 2000,” said Charul Vyas, research analyst at IDC. “Fraud detection and prevention systems can … curtail some of these losses.”
Enhancements to FraudBuster 5.0 include new intelligent call processing; a component-based architecture that can revise, upgrade or redefine events on a monthly basis; and the addition of link analysis events allowing for identification of fraud rings.
The product now can be delivered on an outsourced basis through an application service provider, or in-house through Lightbridge, the company said.
