WOODBRIDGE, N.J.-BellSouth Wireless Data announced it will begin offering Research In Motion Ltd.’s 957 palmtop device in support of its MyBiz Interactive wireless messaging service next month.
RIM confirmed the news, noting it has agreed to supply BSWD with a total of 150,000 RIM handsets, half of which will be the 950 devices and the other half the newer 957.
The 957 device is RIM’s personal digital assistant play, featuring a back-lit screen and full Qwerty keyboard and jog dial, similar to the popular 950. BSWD’s MyBiz portfolio includes such services as Interactive Messaging PLUS two-way messaging, news and lifestyle content, business applications and Corporate E-Mail PLUS, which is a combination of Interactive Messaging PLUS and corporate e-mail based on the BlackBerry wireless solution for Microsoft Exchange.
Businesses and individual customers may customize their mobile services by selecting different combinations of the MyBiz portfolio.
RIM and BSWD also signed a distribution agreement allowing BSWD to directly offer the BlackBerry solution to corporate customers.
