Verizon buys Calif./Nev. property

Verizon Wireless bought up the last bits of the Sacramento Valley L.P., which covers about 3.8 million people in Northern California and Nevada and operates under the Verizon brand.

Centennial Communications Corp. will give up its 23.5-percent interest in the partnership, covering about 865,000 people, for $236 million in cash.

After the transaction, Verizon will own all of the Sacramento partnership, which covers areas in Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Chico, Redding and Yuba City in California and Reno in Nevada. The area will become part of Verizon’s Northern California/Nevada Region operations.
