NEW YORK-Globalstar do Brasil and South American transportation company Itapemirim have teamed up to put mobile phones on 43 inner-city buses in South America.
The service is scheduled to start Dec. 1., and the phones will be installed on all the new buses in Itapemirim’s fleet. Passengers on the buses will be able to make calls using prepaid smart cards.
“We are always looking for the newest and the best services for our clients-this has been the main objective of our 50-year-old bus transportation company,” said Camilo Cola, Itapemirim Group’s chairman.
In the last month, Globalstar has also announced a new prepaid service plan in Peru, a new reseller contract with a company in Brazil, and a new service in Paraguay.
