Fixed data services drive Loral’s increased bookings

NEW YORK-Loral Space & Communications today reported its financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended Sept. 30.

Loral’s bookings before intercompany and affiliate eliminations for the quarter were $719 million, an increase of 33 percent from bookings of $539 million in the third quarter last year.

This was mainly driven by new contracts for fixed satellite services, particularly for data applications, the company said.

Backlog on Sept. 30 reached $4.2 billion before eliminations and $2.9 billion after, increases of 64 percent and 47 percent over backlog at the same time last year.
