Indosat selects PT Ericsson infrastructure

JAKARTA, Indonesia-PT Ericsson Indonesia was selected by Indonesian telecommunications operator Indosat, which was recently granted a nationwide DCS-1800 principle license, as infrastructure supplier for first phase procurement of Indosat’s Mobile Multi Media infrastructure.

The IM-3 service, which is scheduled to begin service during the second half of 2001, will offer cellular, Internet and multimedia converged services. The first phase of deployment will cover Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Malang, Surabaya, Denpasar and Batam, Indonesia.

Full deployment of the IM-3 services is expected to be completed over the next five years and will provide service to approximately 50 percent of Indonesia’s populated areas, according to Indosat.
