AKRON, OHIO-A panel of telecommunications experts at a conference this month in San Antonio will discuss design trends and business prospects for that hot market, as well as the potential it holds for plastics part suppliers.
Plastics News’ Executive Forum 2001 is set for Oct. 15-18 at San Antonio’s Westin La Cantera Resort. The 90-minute telecom market panel, scheduled for late morning on Tuesday, Oct. 17, will feature:
Bruce Claxton, Plantation, Fla.-based design director for Motorola Inc.’s Communications Enterprise;
Michael Fallon, global market development manager for the newly created telecommunications/wireless sector of Clinton, Mass.-based Nypro Inc., a leading plastics injection molder and contract manufacturer; and

The moderator will be Chris Cavello, a former Dell Computer Corp. product manager who now is director of Design Edge Inc., a 50-person Austin, Texas, product design development firm active in both the telecom and computer markets.
Apart from that session, the Executive Forum also will address such topics as e-business, globalization, merger and acquisition trends, and prospects for certain plastics materials and other key end markets, including medical, automotive and packaging.
The half-day e-business program on Oct. 18, cosponsored by Advertising Age’s BtoB, will be devoted to presentations on such topics as e-marketplaces, customer relationship management, and a panel examining how the Internet is impacting manufacturing supply chains. Keynote speaker is former IBM China Chairman Kevin Painter, who now is running his own Hong Kong-based company, Neptus Group, that aims to organize manufacturing supply chain networks on the mainland.
