Leap signs deal with Nortel

BOSTON-Wireless operator Cricket Communications, a subsidiary of Leap Wireless International Inc., signed a three-year supply agreement with Nortel Networks Corp. for wireless network infrastructure equipment and services.

Cricket said the agreement, valued at $350 million, will support its network expansion throughout the Northeast. Leap plans to launch service in eight additional markets by the end of the year.

The agreement also includes evolution to third-generation cdma2000 technology.
