Nickelodeon is launching a series of iPhone and iTouch applications based on its popular shows “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Dora the Explorer” and “iCarly.”
Users will be challenged to match shapes, count numbers and practice the alphabet through a “Dora the Explorer” application game launching in March.
“SpongeBob SquarePants: SpongeBob’s Wacky Walk” and “SpongeBob SquarePants Diner Dash” will be made available in April and July, respectively.
The tween show “iCarly” will get the iPhone application treatment with “iCarly on the iPhone,” a game that will let players help the iCarly crew prepare for their next webisode. The application launches in September.
Nickelodeon also will extend its gaming Web sites Shockwave.com and AddictingGames.com on the iPhone with streaming mobile video applications and games. Shockwave’s Daily Jigsaws-to-Go and Sara’s Super Spa will join the Apple iTunes App Store in April, while Sara’s Super Spa will be available in June.
More applications will be released throughout the year.
