Michael McGarry was appointed regional vice president, Central Region, for BellSouth Wireless Data L.P. McGarry’s team will be responsible for selling Interactive Messaging PLUS and industry solutions to Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to joining BellSouth, McGarry held vice president of sales positions in two start-up companies.

Spyglass

Perry Sweet has joined Spyglass Inc. as head of its new channel reseller program. Sweet will be responsible for developing sales, education and training programs for a worldwide network of resellers for the Spyglass Prism content delivery and transformation platform. Sweet previously worked for IBM, where he was responsible for developing partnerships in the health care, financial and government marketplaces.

Aegis Broadband

Aegis Broadband Inc. appointed Edward Triebell as managing director of its Asia-Pacific division. In his new position, Triebell will be responsible for defining and implementing a business development plan for Aegis in the Asia-Pacific marketplace, focused on both direct sales and strategic partnerships. Triebell was the Asia-Pacific regional sales director for L-3 Communications’ Commercial Products Group, focused on Code Division Multiple Access-based wireless broadband products.

FCC

Marsha MacBride, legal advisor for mass media and cable issues for commissioner of the Federal Communications Commissions, Michael Powell, will leave the FCC at the end of July to join the Washington, D.C. office of The Walt Disney Company as vice president of government relations.

McLeodUSA

Integrated telecommunications services provider McLeodUSA Inc. announced that Dan Hesse, president and chief executive officer of TeraBeam Networks, has joined McLeod-USA’s board of directors. Before joining TeraBeam Networks, a provider of proprietary fiberless optic services, Hesse was president and chief executive officer of AT&T Wireless Services Inc. and executive vice president of AT&T Corp.

Starfish Software

Randall Bronte was promoted to the new position of vice president of product management at Starfish Software, a supplier of synchronization solutions and infrastructure software for the wireless Internet. Bronte will be responsible for leading the product strategy for Starfish’s next-generation wireless Internet solutions and delivering the solutions to global partners and customers. Bronte served as business development manager at Starfish before his promotion.

Unimobile.com

Communications products and services supplier Unimobile.com announced the addition of Harry Motro to its board of directors. Motro, founder of Motro Ventures, was also an investor in Unimobile.com’s Series B financing. Prior to founding Motro Ventures, Motro served as president and chief executive officer of Info-Seek.

CTIA

Philip Christopher, president and chief executive officer of Audiovox Communications Corp., was elected to serve a second one-year term on the board of directors of the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association. In addition to his role with CTIA, Christopher is a member of the White House Economic Council.

SignalSoft

Andre de Verteuil was appointed director of solutions architecture at SignalSoft Corp., a platform and applications developer for wireless location services. Working in SignalSoft’s corporate development area, de Verteuil will be responsible for the strategic worldwide identification of partnerships and opportunities. Before joining SignalSoft, de Verteuil was involved in business development, strategy, technical standards and intelligent network solutions in North America, South America, Asia-Pacific and Asia at Compaq/Tandem.

Synchrologic

Wireless infrastructure software provider Synchrologic Inc. named John Dancu president and chief operating officer. Dancu will also join Synchrologic’s board of directors. Previously, Dancu was president and COO of Netzip Inc., a provider of download management software for the Internet.

MobileLogic

Ronald Spears was named president and chief executive officer of Mobile-Logic Inc., a provider of mobile business solutions. Spears will be responsible for developing and executing all aspects of MobileLogic’s strategy, building on the company’s expertise in implementing wireless technology and providing professional services. Prior to joining MobileLogic, Spears served as president and chief executive officer at e-business solutions provider CMGI Solutions.

Triton PCS

David Clark, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Triton PCS Inc., was promoted to executive vice president and CFO of the company. Clark’s role as executive vice president was expanded to include mergers and acquisitions, in addition to his current responsibilities for accounting, treasury, internal control, inter-carrier services and human resources. Clark also is a member of the corporate management committee at Triton and will serve on the company’s newly created strategic council. Before joining Triton, Clark was managing director of Furman Selz L.L.C., where he specialized in communications finance. Triton also appointed Glen Robinson to senior vice president of engineering, where he will be responsible for leading all aspects of the engineering, implementation, operation and expansion of the company’s digital personal communications services network. Robinson previously served as vice president and chief technical officer of Triton Cellular Partners L.P.

V-Comm

Donald Coover was promoted to vice president at V-Comm Telecommunications Engineering. In his new position, Coover will oversee the networks services division, developing new business opportunities with telecommunications service providers. Coover was director engineering at V-Comm before his promotion.
