The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Wi-Fi
–United States: Meru Networks said it won a contract to supply a wireless local area network solution to Maple Knolls Communities in Ohio. The network provides wireless voice and data access for 1,200 residents and 500 staff members for the retirement center.
Miscellaneous
–Ireland: Nextivity Inc. said it has been chosen by 3 Ireland to deploy its SMART Repeater solution as part of the country’s universal broadband initiative. The solution will work together with 3’s 3G wireless network.
–Norway: The Norwegian National Rail Administration signed a 20-year support agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks to provide maintenance for the country’s railway communications network. The deal follows Nokia Siemens Networks’ implementation of a GSM-Railways mobile network in the country.
