Lenovo, SugarSync launch cloud storage service

Lenovo’s cloud storage unit and SugarSync unveiled a cloud storage service that will be integrated into Lenovo’s personal computers and tablet devices. The solution is focused on consumers looking to access, sync and backup their files, photos, music and movies across their devices.

Levono explained to RCR Wireless News that the offering plays a fundamental role in its plan to expand cloud services and expand capabilities to consumers and businesses.

Dubbed “Lenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSync,” the service is available now to both consumer and enterprise segments, with plans to include the offering on Lenovo’s ThinkPad and IdeaPad laptops and Android tablet products worldwide outside of China starting in April.

The service provides users with free access to 5 gigabytes of storage for files, photos, videos and music. Additional storage capabilities are available for a fee.

The companies noted that the solution is also available to Internet-based products from other manufacturers across a broad array of devices, including laptops, smartphones and tablets, and across all major operating systems. Users can access their data when they aren’t connected to the Internet using SugarSync’s two-way utoSync technology, which stores users’ data in the cloud and syncs it locally to the devices when used offline.
