UWCC kicks off branding effort for TDMA-EDGE

NEW ORLEANS-The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium launched its Time Division Multiple Access-EDGE brand identity campaign at CTIA’s Wireless 2000 show.

“This is an exciting time in the wireless community and especially for us at UWCC,” noted Sheila Mickool, president of the UWCC. “We are on the edge of wireless and data convergence, and the TDMA-EDGE technology gives our operators and vendors the opportunity to be the leaders in [third-generation] services.”

According to the UWCC, TDMA-EDGE carriers are coming off record subscriber increases for 1999, with the technology leading the wireless industry in the western hemisphere in both coverage and subscriber base.

The UWCC also unveiled its new Web site dedicated to TDMA-EDGE technology, www.tdma-edge.org.
