WAP deals announced

NEW ORLEANS-Several Wireless Application Protocol announcements were made at Wireless 2000 in New Orleans last week.

RTS Wireless demonstrated its Advantage WAP Gateway e-commerce solutions

Datalink.net said it joined the WAP Forum.

Motorola Inc. announced the availability of its WAP gateway, compatible with WAP version 1.2. The gateway includes Wireless Transport Layer Security Class 1 and Class 2, billing interfaces, authentication and access control services and system management features.

Business Objects joined the WAP Forum. The company said it plans to develop WAP-enabled e-business solutions.

eCode.com, providing user identity services for the Internet, said it has created a WAP version of its Web site, so eCode.com members can access its content from WAP-enabled devices.

Sports.com Ltd. launched a sports content service for the United Kingdom through a WAP-enabled Web site. Motorola and Genie Internet, a U.K. Internet service provider, have partnered with Sports.com to bring the solution live.
