CANNES, France-At the GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, Motorola Inc. showcased a range of location-aware solutions delivered directly to the mobile handset. The solution is enabled by combining key technologies over the new General Packet Radio Service data network.
According to Motorola, the new location-aware applications bring together GPRS, Wireless Application Protocol and mobile positioning technologies to deliver attractive and useful mobile services which proactively use a subscriber location.
“Mobile phone users, by definition, are always on the move,” said Chris Ducker, director of Motorola’s End-to-End Solutions Group. “By providing them with local services-wherever they are-we can create valuable new revenue streams for operators, content providers and businesses.”
