DDI, IDO launch CDMA packet service

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-Phone.com Inc. said Japanese carriers DDI and IDO are launching a Code Division Multiple Access-based packet service called PacketOne for their wireless Internet access services EZweb and EZaccess, both based on Phone.com’s UP.Link Server Suite.

EZweb and EZaccess originally were launched using Japanese cdmaOne technology last April.

Phones equipped with the Phone.com UP.Browser will be able to access the services. They include models from Toshiba, Hitachi, Casio, Sanyo and Sony.
