ERICSSON CREATES PROGRAM TO SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET USE

NEW YORK-Ericsson Inc.’s CyberLab NY introduced a program designed to speed growth of the wireless Internet industry by providing market and technical information, development and testing tools and on-site expertise and seminars to help developers build new wireless Internet applications and services.

The Developers Network program initially will focus on Wireless Application Protocol technology, the company said, but will expand to cover other Ericsson wireless technologies, including Bluetooth, iPulse, General Packet Radio Service, EPOC and 3G.

CyberLab NY also is partnering with EarthWeb Inc., an online information provider, to create a wireless Internet area on EarthWeb’s developer.com service. Fourteen other organizations were announced as charter members of the Developers Network. They include Aether Systems Inc., AgentArts, Data On Air, Diversinet, Electronic Hollywood, GoAmerica Communications Corp., JP Systems, on board info, Palm Reach, PCS Innovations, Saraide.com Inc., Thinking Media, w-Trade and Wysdom.
