UbiquiTel subsidiary sells towers

SAN RAMON, Calif.-Sprint PCS affiliate UbiquiTel Inc. announced its Calif.-based subsidiary VIA Wireless L.L.C. sold 100 wireless communications towers to GoldenState Towers L.L.C. for $11.5 million.

Ubiquitel, which plans to use proceeds from the sale to enhance its liquidity position, will lease-back space on the towers for an initial term of 10 years. GoldenState now owns 164 towers in the western U.S.
